DR5 is a specialist marketing agency for theatre shows, established in 2000 and celebrating 25 years in 2025. Founded by Shereden and Mark, the agency has built a reputation for depth of experience, creative flair and award-winning campaigns – including a Drum Award in 2023.

The Brief

The brief was clear: create a new website that confidently shows off DR5’s work, reassures producers and theatre marketing staff that they are in safe hands, and strengthens brand perception. The site needed to communicate scale, creativity and credibility, with space to showcase the agency’s current and past productions, highlight their expertise, and introduce the team.

 

The Design

The design approach was led by DR5’s personality: bold, confident, and rooted in their industry expertise. Competitor analysis showed that theatre marketing websites often rely heavily on visuals but risk becoming cluttered. DR5 wanted to strike the right balance between high-impact imagery and intuitive navigation. We designed a sleek, modern interface that puts productions front and centre. Large-scale photography, dynamic video integration, and subtle interactive elements give visitors a sense of the scope of DR5’s work. A filterable archive of past shows allows users to explore by type; musical, drama, family - while dedicated sections highlight current campaigns. To reinforce trust and credibility, the design also introduces Shereden and Mark with professional biographies, alongside testimonials from clients. The overall look is polished yet simple, ensuring the focus always remains on the productions.

 

The Development

From a development perspective, flexibility and ease of content management were key. DR5 needed a platform that could handle a constantly evolving portfolio of productions without compromising performance or design. We built the site with Craft CMS which allows the team to upload new shows, update media assets, and manage video or EPK content quickly and easily. The filterable archive was developed with scalability in mind, ensuring DR5 can continue to add new productions as their portfolio grows. Performance optimisation was also a priority, given the reliance on high-resolution imagery and video. The site was developed with lazy loading, responsive design, and best-practice SEO foundations to ensure fast load times and smooth browsing across devices. The result is a digital platform that positions DR5 as the confident, experienced and award-winning agency they are. It captures the class and scale of their work, gives producers and theatre staff the reassurance they’re looking for, and sets the foundation for the next 25 years of the agency’s journey.
